1. Introduction

PeerPause ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using PeerPause, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to make the app work:

• Account information — your name, email, and a hashed identifier when you sign in via Apple or Google.
• Time-buddy data — the friend you've paired with, and screen-time-related requests sent between you (e.g., extension requests).
• Device data — anonymous device identifiers and push-notification tokens used to deliver requests.
• Screen-time activity — usage limits and on-device aggregates exposed by Apple's Screen Time APIs. This data stays on your device unless you explicitly share it.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Authenticate you and pair you with your time buddy.
• Send and respond to time-extension and limit-modification requests.
• Deliver push notifications when your buddy needs a response.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app.

We do not sell your data, and we don't show ads.

4. Sharing

We share information only with:

• Your time buddy — limited to the requests and approvals you exchange.
• Service providers we rely on (e.g., Supabase for storage, Apple Push Notification service, RevenueCat for subscription management). Each handles data under their own privacy terms.
• Legal authorities, when required by law.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account; we then remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep it for legal reasons.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, email Coming soon.

7. Children

PeerPause is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards (encryption in transit, hashed identifiers, scoped tokens) to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
