Screen time calculator
How much of your life is on your phone?
Enter your daily screen time and your age. See what it adds up to over a week, a year and the rest of your life, and how much you get back with a lower goal.
Every week
28 hours
Every year
1,460 hours
That’s 61 full days.
The rest of your life
12.8 years
of your waking hours, if you live to 81
With a 2h goal, you get back
6.4 years of waking life
14 hours a week
Assumes you live to 81 and are awake 16 hours a day, the same figures the PeerPause app uses. It shows the scale, not a prediction.
How the numbers work
Every week is your daily screen time times 7, and every year is times 365. Full days divide the yearly hours by 24.
The rest of your life counts the years until 81, then takes your daily screen time as a share of a 16-hour waking day. At 4 hours a day that’s a quarter of your waking time, so from age 30 it adds up to about 12.8 years.
Your goal works the same way: the difference between today and your goal is the time you get back.
How do I find my screen time on iPhone?
Open Settings, tap Screen Time and look at the daily average. Tap See All App & Website Activity for the breakdown by app and by week.
Why does the calculator count waking hours?
You can only use your phone while you are awake, so the lifetime figure is a share of your waking time. Counting the full 24-hour day would make it look smaller than it feels.
Does my Screen Time number include work?
Yes. Screen Time counts all use, including maps, messages and work apps. If much of it is work, set your goal for the apps you would like to use less, not your total.
Want to actually hit your goal?
PeerPause locks your apps when you reach your limit. Only your Time Buddy can give you more time.
